Lesson Plan

:

45 First Writing Part 1

**10mins - **Conversation: Debate: Some people believe that we shouldn't eat meat. Do you agree or disagree with this belief? Do you eat meat? Have you ever considered being a vegetarian?

Follow up:

1. Which lifestyle do you think is healthier, that of a meat-eater, or that of a carnivore. Why?

2. Do you consider yourself to have a healthy diet? What foods do you eat most often?

**05mins - **Review - Review phrasal verb flashcards.

**10mins - **Review: Passive voice - The passive voice is used to show interest in the person or object that experienced the action, rather than the person or action that performs it.

We also use the passive voice when we don't know who did the action or we don't want to express who did it.

Active: The Beatles wrote "A Hard Day's night".

Passive: "A Hard Day's Night" was written by The Beatles.

10mins - Workbook: 14 passive voice

20mins - Test: 45 writing practice - part 1

Have each student 'plan' their essay. Review the 5-paragraph structure and appropriate linking expressions. Have students write the introductory paragraph. Then, go over the checklist together:

- Have you introduced the question to the readers?

- Have you used interesting language to capture our attention?

- Have you used correct spelling and punctuation?

Students will finish their essays for homework.

**05mins - **Warm down: Goodbye, see you next time.

**00mins - **Homework: Complete the next section of the online homework.
