Teacher Guide

By now your students will be familiar with several phrasal verbs (see lessons 11, 12, 28 and 33) and hopefully you are revisiting 3 or 4 every lesson to give them lots of practice using them naturally in conversation and writing tasks. Have them match up the meanings to this list of phrasal verbs and circle any that they didn't know. Make sure to provide further examples and encourage your students to try and form complete sentence examples themselves so you can check that they are using them correctly. As an extension exercise, you might like to discuss which of these examples are separable and which are inseparable.

Encourage your students to choose 4 from the list that they didn't know already to write the example sentences in the second part of the worksheet. Correct them if needed and have them read them out loud.

Lesson Plan

:

49 First Listening Part 1

10mins - Conversation: Speaking part 1: Have students write down questions they think they might be asked in speaking part 1. These questions could be about "your hometown" "your interests" "your career plans" etc. Students will then work with a partner, asking questions and recording answers.

10mins - Worksheet: 18 phrasal verbs

**15mins - **Activity: Taboo with phrasal verbs. Prep the game by having students write phrasal verbs from the worksheet on pieces of paper. Divide the students into two teams. Each student must blindly choose a phrasal verb, and describe it to their team without saying the words. The team has 30 seconds to guess the correct answer.

20mins - Test: 49 listening practice - part 1

**05mins - **Warm down: Goodbye, see you next time.

**00mins - **Homework: Complete the next section of the online homework.
