10mins - Conversation: Speaking Part 3 Practice Prompt:

  • Now, I'd like you to talk about something together for about two minutes. (3 minutes for groups of three). I'd like you to imagine that a restaurant is trying to attract more customers. Here are some of the ideas they are considering: Ask the students to brainstorm some ideas. Flyers, discounts, theme nights, etc.)
  • First, you have some time to look at the task. Now, talk to each other about why these ideas might attract more customers to the restaurant. Now you have one minute to decide which idea might attract the most customers.

05mins - Review online homework. What topics were discussed? Was the homework easy, medium or difficult? Answer any questions the students may have.

10mins - Review: the introduction and conclusion paragraphs which were assigned as homework. Correct any errors, and discuss any problems or difficulties.

10mins - Worksheet: 24 Writing practice - Part 2 - Review the differences between formal and informal writing, discussing each of the 4 writing options in Part 2. Test Tip

1) Think about the voice - can you switch between active and passive voice?

2) Look at the words directly before and after the gap. If a past participle follows the gap, you know you'll need the auxiliary verb 'have/had' in your response.

3) Do not use fewer than two or more than five words.

4) Do not modify the key word in any way.
