Teacher Guide

Do some quick examples to show how to convert from times in minutes (such as "90 minutes") to digital times. It's good to have an analog clock that you can move the arms around on to demonstrate moving forward in time by a certain number of minutes.

Do the first question together as an example. Break it down and write notes on the board. Check that the students are following both the language and the maths. Use symbols to first introduce key words such as "add", "later" and "equals".

Have the students repeat the process to complete the other questions. Remind them to write their answers in full sentences. Check their work together.

Lesson Plan

:

15 Flyers Writing Part 2

05mins - Introduction: What time does English class begin? What time do you usually eat dinner? Do you brush your teeth before or after you eat? What do you talk about during dinner? When do you go to bed? When do you wake up in the morning? Ask a series of questions referring to time and using appropriate time-related vocabulary.

05mins - Review the online homework. What topics were discussed? Was the homework easy, medium or difficult? Answer any questions the students may have.

05mins - Review: Simple past verbs. Have each student write a question about an event that happened in the past. Ex: Where did you go on your summer holiday?

05mins - Review: The 24-hour clock + time vocabulary: a.m., p.m., past, to, a quarter past, half past, a quarter to, before, after, during

10mins - Game: Time showdown:Split the class into two teams. The first member of each team will be given a time (Ex: a quarter past three in the afternoon). The students must write the correct time. Each correct answer earns one point.

10mins - Worksheet: 15 time

15mins - Practice Test: 15 writing practice - part 2

05mins - Warm down: goodbye see you next time

00mins - Homework: complete the next section of the online homework.
