The students need to read the text and choose a word from the options provided to fill each gap. After helping them to complete the text, have them read it out loud and ask which words seem to fit naturally for them, and which don't. Help them to understand the words that are less familiar to them, and give other example sentences of how they are commonly used. It's also a good idea to review the simple past form of some common verbs.
05mins - Introduction: Ask each student to describe the location of one item in the room, and explain how to get to it from where they are. Have them write the descriptions on a piece of paper and trade with a classmate. The students must try to guess what each object is. Ex: It is on the desk next to the book. To find this object, turn left, take four big steps, and turn right.
05mins - Review the online homework. What topics were discussed? Was the homework easy, medium or difficult? Answer any questions the students may have.
05mins - Review: Prepositions. Review with preposition flashcards. Have the students follow a set of commands to check for understanding. E.g.: Place a pencil on your head. Stand next to your desk. Walk around the room. Etc.
15mins - Activity: Split the class into two teams. Each team has a chance to hide their "treasure" while the other team is not watching. Both teams must write directions using prepositions to find the treasure they have hidden. The teams trade directions and hunt for the treasure.
