Teacher Guide

Remind the students to read all the possible answers before choosing the correct one. Students should underline question words and key vocabulary before choosing the correct answer. You can give candidates prompts or questions and ask students to 'predict' the answers before giving them the options. Look at the questions before and after the gaps to give context.

Show students that certain question words will need certain types of information in the answer. For example a question starting with 'Are there...?' is talking about a plural noun so won't match with a response referring to a singular noun.

Have the students read the conversation out loud together to make sure it sounds natural.

Lesson Plan

:

27 Flyers Reading Part 2

10mins: Introduction: Speaking part 1 - Use the Flyers speaking help cards to practice finding differences in two images. Ask the students to identify six differences, as well as describing how the picture is different as a whole. Students should use complete sentences and appropriate nouns/verbs/prepositions to identify and describe the changes.

05mins - Review the online homework. What topics were discussed? Was the homework easy, medium or difficult? Answer any questions the students may have.

05mins - Activity: Describe nouns to students, and see if they can guess the correct answer. If necessary, write the answers on the board and erase them as students correctly identify them. Ex: These people wear special clothes and travel in rockets to space: astronauts. If you want to work here, you must be good at counting money: a bank. The people who work here wear uniforms and usually help with traffic problems: police stations. A person with this job brings food and drink to your table when you go out for a meal: a waiter. You can see famous paintings by these people in museums: artists.

05mins - Write some responses on the board for students. Then, ask them questions, and have them try to choose the correct answer. (e.g Answer: Playing basketball. Question: What is she good at? Answer: She had six teammates. Question: How many people were on her team?)

15mins - Worksheet: 27 reading practice - part 2. Review the answers.

15mins - Test: 27 writing practice - part 1. Review the answers.

05mins - Warm down: goodbye see you next time

00mins - Homework: complete the next section of the online homework.
