This is useful for vocabulary building, especially words about jobs and places. Take the time to illustrate and discuss each of the options below, not just the ones that match the questions. Do your students know these jobs and places? When speaking about jobs, ask 'what do they do?' 'what do they wear?' 'what do they use?'. When speaking about places, ask 'what do you do there?' 'what people do you find there?' 'what does it look like?'.
Help them with the spelling and encourage them to read the questions and answers out loud when they've finished. Remind them that the article 'a' becomes 'an' if the next words starts with a vowel.
Show them that some questions refer to a plural thing, for example '...these places...', so the answer should be a plural thing. Some questions refer to a singular thing 'this...' so the answer should be a singular thing.
10mins: Introduction: Speaking part 3 - Information exchange. Using flyers speaking cards, students should form questions to ask for the missing information.
05mins - Review online homework. What topics were discussed? Was the homework easy, medium or difficult? Answer any questions the students may have.
10mins - Activity: Draw 4 pictures on the whiteboard of people doing things. Ask students for suggestions about what they think should happen. Be sure the story has some sort of chronological sense. Have the students write sentences to create a story describing what is happening in the photos. Focus on using the past and past continuous.
05mins - Test practice: Write the following words on the board: a diary, a ruler, soap, glass, a factory. Read the definitions for each, and ask students to write down the correct answers.
