Explain that the First Conditional is used to talk about things that might happen in the future. They are usually things that could easily come true. Give the students some simple examples and underline the parts that make up the First Conditional structure, as they appear at the top of the worksheet.
Have them work in pairs to ask each other 'What will you do if...' for each row of the table. If it is a private lesson, pair up with the student yourself. Have them write done the answer starting with "I will..." or "They will..." but have them read it out loud with the complete structure starting with "If...".
05mins - Conversation: If you had three wishes, what would you ask for? Have each student decide what they would wish for and why!
10mins - Revision: 2nd conditional. The second conditional is used to talk about a future situation that is not likely to happen. In many cases, it is a situation we wish could happen.( If + past simple, would + base verb.) Ex: 'If I were rich, I would never go to work.' Have students work in pairs. Each student should write three second conditional sentences about things they wish would happen.
10mins - Activity: Guess my answer: Read the sentences out loud. Students must try to guess who wrote what sentences. You can add a few 'fake' sentences to make the game more interesting. Keep track of how many guesses each student gets correct.
20mins - Worksheet: 03 Second conditional - answer the second conditional questions in complete sentence form.
15mins - Test: 03 listening - part 2
05mins - Warm down: Goodbye, see you next time.
00mins - Students must ask a parent 'If you had one which, what would you ask for?' Students must copy the answer and bring it to the next lesson.
