Teacher Guide

The students need to read the text and choose a word from the options provided to fill each gap. After helping them to complete the text, have them read it out loud and ask which words seem to fit naturally for them, and which don't. Help them to understand the words that are less familiar to them, and give other example sentences of how they are commonly used.

Lesson Plan

:

08 Key Reading Part 4

10mins - Introduction: What did you do last weekend? Do you often do the same activities on the weekends? Do you prefer to see your friends or spend time with your family? Ask each student to think of and ask a classmate one question from the past.

05mins - Review homework. Discuss any questions or problems.

10mins - Pre-Teach: Review prepositions of placement and movement. 10mins - Activity: Draw the directions. Each student has a piece of paper and a pencil. Give them different directions about what they should draw on their paper. Ex: Draw an elephant in the centre of the page. Draw a glass of water on its head. Draw a car under the elephant. Draw an ice cream cone in the top left corner of the page. Etc...

10mins - Worksheet: 08 prepositions - finish for homework

15mins - Test: 08 reading practice - part 4

00mins - Warm down: what will you do this weekend?

00mins - Homework: Complete the next section of the online homework.

Test Tip

1) Skim read the text for general meaning.

2) Without looking at the answers, think of a word that fits in the gap.

3) Then re-read each sentence and choose the correct answer.

4) After choosing an answer, check the other two answers and decide why they're wrong.
