Teacher Guide

Review useful vocabulary, based on the picture: a lady/ woman, an underground station, shop...etc. Check that the students know to use the pronoun 'she' and remind them to write using verbs in the past. As a start, it's a good idea to try and write 1 simple sentence for each picture. They can add more if needed. Have them check the word count - it should be at least 35 words. Remind the students that the past continuous is useful in storytelling and is used o descrive what was happening at a certain moment in the past.

Lesson Plan

:

18 Key Writing Part 2

10mins - Introduction: Imagine there is a new kid at school, and you have been asked to show them around. What advice would you give to the new student about the school? What recommendations can you give the student to help them feel more comfortable?

05mins - Review the online homework. What topics were discussed? Was the homework easy, medium or difficult? Answer any questions the students may have.

05mins - Review: definitely - probably - perhaps - likely - will - might - chance - won’t. Refer to the introduction question. Have the students use the following words to provide a context of probability to their answers.

05mins - Pre-teach:'Some' and 'Any' are quantifiers used when the speaker cannot or does not want to specify a number or an exact amount 'Some' is used in positive sentences. 'Any' is used in negative sentences.

-This job is going to take some time.

-I don't need any help.

10mins - Activity: Pizza toppings - Each person must write two pizza toppings on two small pieces of paper. Collect and redistribute the papers, so each student has a pizza they are selling and a pizza they are looking to buy. Students must walk around the room, asking questions to search for the pizza they should buy, and answering questions about the pizza they are selling. 'Has your pizza got any mushrooms?' 'Yes, my pizza has got some mushrooms.'

10mins - Worksheet: 18 - quantifiers

15mins - Test: 18 writing practice - part 2

05mins - Warm down: what will you do this weekend?

00mins - Homework: complete the next section of the online homework.
