Teacher Guide

Have the students read the descriptions and underline any words or phrases they are unfamiliar with. They need to choose one of the profiles to match each sentence below. Remind them to look for keywords and synonyms, for example: ...people believed was not possible = everyone thought that nobody could do this.

22 Key Reading Part 2

10mins - Introduction: An envelope with your name on it is delivered to your house. Inside, you find 100,000 euro. What do you do with the money?

05mins - Review the online homework. What topics were discussed? Was the homework easy, medium or difficult? Answer any questions the students may have.10mins - Activity: Write a paragraph about yourself (roughly 40 words.) Use prepositions of place, time and movement. Leave 10 spaces where the prepositions should be. Have students trade papers and complete the sentences using the correct prepositions

05mins - Game: Describing occupations: Take turns describing different jobs. Students must guess what job you are talking about.

10mins - Worksheet: 22 adverbs

15mins - Test: 22 reading practice - part 2 - review the answers.

05mins - Warm down: what will you do this weekend?

00mins - Homework: complete the next section of the online homework.

Test Tip

1) Read each of the three texts, and underline their key requirements.

2) Compare the question with the text options, and when the student has found the answer, be sure that all of the information completely matches the text.

3) Encourage students to prove that the answer cannot be found in another text option.

4) Beware of 'word-spotting' which is using one or two identical words to form a false match. Instead, focus on the meaning of the whole text.
