Each column contains pairs of words in the infinitive form and the past tense. The students should start at the top, with 'be'. Ask them if they know how to say it in the past, helping if they need with an example 'Yesterday I was happy'. When they find the word 'was' in the list they should connect it to 'be' by drawing a line. They should continue like this for each word in the list, in both columns. This exercises can be tedious but it is helpful especially for those students who learn best by seeing the written form of the word. Later, this sheet can be a reference guide. Give the words context by using spoken examples. Show the students that for many words (regular), the past is formed by adding 'ed'.
