Have the students try to fill the gaps and then discuss the words they've chosen. If they've made a mistake, explain why it is not correct. Remind them to read the whole sentence before and after the gap to look for clues about what type of word fits.
10mins - Conversation: What is your favourite hobby? How often do you do this hobby? Describe the hobby in detail. Why do you like it?
10mins - Review Activity: Bucket list. Have each student create a list of 10 things they would like to do in their life, or have already done. (It should be a mix of the two, and it should be secret!) Next, have students ask each other questions about their lists, using the present perfect form. (Have you ever.../ Yes, I have / No, I haven't)
20mins - Worksheet: Present Perfect
15mins - Test: Worksheet: 02 Reading Practice - part 6
05mins - Warm down: Discuss any material the student had difficulties with. Goodbye, see you next time!
00mins - Homework: Ask the student to find the lyrics to a song with English words. Have the student underline any words they have trouble understanding, and write a short summary of what they think the song is about.
1) In some cases, more than one word is possible for a gap, but you must only write one.
2) Consider whether a pronoun, determiner, auxiliary verb, question word or preposition can fit into the space.
3) In some cases, students will need to recognise phrasal verbs or common fixed phrases.
4) Do not use the first word that comes to mind. Remember to consider multiple options before choosing an answer.
5) Once all the gaps are completed, re-read the text to see if it makes sense.
