Talk through and practise these useful tips with the students:
1) Quickly scan the text to get a general idea of what it's about.
2) Read the questions to determine what the text is about, then look at the first question.
3) Read the question, but not the answers options. Search through the text until you find the answer to the question, then refer back to the answer options and choose the correct one.
4) Check to be sure every piece of information in the answer option is true and matches the question.
5) Find the error in the other answers that disqualify them.
6) Underline evidence from the text to support your answer.
7) In questions 11-15, underline keywords and then skim the text to find the answers.
8) Questions 11-15 follow the order of the information in the text.
9) Questions 14 and 15 focus on overall meaning and opinion.
