1) Practise describing pictures for 1 minute so that you know how much you can say.
2) Think about how you can organise what you say in 1 minute.
3) Remember to describe everything in the picture, not just the people.
4) You can mention how the people might be feeling, but don't speculate.
5) Tell students to imagine they are describing the photograph to someone who can't see it. This may include naming all the objects, describing colours, clothing, weather, time of day, etc.
6) Points may be awarded for paraphrasing if a student can't remember a certain word.
