10mins - Introduction: Conversation - Music. The student is to discuss the significance that music has in their life, speak about their favourite genres/artists/bands and why they like them, and give reasons for disliking any music that they find to be unfavourable. Ask the student if they have a preferred era of music, country of origin and if they generally gravitate towards music that has a particular atmosphere or mood.
05mins - Revision: Book work - Discuss the chapters of the book that were set for homework at the end of the previous lesson.
05mins - Comprehension: Answer the comprehension questions that accompany the newly read chapters of the book.
05mins - Mini Task: Set a 3 minute timer. The student is to write down as many words in the semantic field of 'sound' as they can. e.g music, hearing, listening, audio, oral, sonar, silence, noise, hum, whirr, crash, etc. Spend the next remaining 2 minutes discussing the words the student has included, any words they may have missed and any spelling errors they may have made.
15mins - Test: Reading Part 7

15mins - Creative Task: Life-changing Music. The student is to write a paragraph of emotive, descriptive writing about a time they heard a song or album for the first time that soundtracked a big moment. They are to focus on why that piece of music holds special significance and how they felt when they heard it. If necessary, use some of the text from Reading Part 7 to help the student get started.
5mins - Warm down: I will set the student chapters of the book to read for homework whilst contemplating any new themes and/or characters that may have appeared.
