Lesson Plan

:

11 Proficiency Speaking Part 3

10mins - Introduction: Conversation - Anxiety in the Modern World. Discuss the possible correlation between people suffering from anxiety based disorders and potentially troubling aspects of modern life - e.g constant internet connection being available, excessive advertising, diet fads, health trends etc.

05mins - Revision: Book work - Discuss the chapters of the book that were set for homework at the end of the previous lesson.

05mins - Comprehension: Answer the comprehension questions that accompany the newly read chapter(s) of the book.

10mins - Mini Task: Random Object Speaking Warm-up. I will put three random, mundane objects (e.g a spoon, a pen, and a blank piece of paper) in front of the student and they are to speak about each object for 1 minute with a gap of 30 seconds between objects to gather their thoughts.

15mins - Test: 11 reading practice - part 3

10mins - Creative Task: Climate Change Pamphlet. The student is to produce a pamphlet on climate change. They are to include a wide range of complex, subject specific vocabulary, they are to use persuasive and informative language and ensure that there are clear and defined sections with headings such as "What Can YOU Do?" "How has it come to this?" and "What happens next?"

05mins - Warm down: I will set the student chapters of the book to read for homework whilst contemplating any new themes and/or characters that may have appeared.

Test Tip

1) Read the whole text to get context.

2) Think about what part of speech is missing in the gap.

3) You will need to make more than one change to some words.

4) There is usually a negative prefix word in each paper.

5) Sometimes the change can be as simple as adding an 's' to the end of a verb form. Avoid overthinking small solutions.

6) Check spelling.

7) You must write your answers in CAPITAL letters.
