10mins: Conversation: Unpredictable moments -
Describe a journey that didn't go as planned. You should say:
- where you were going
- how you were travelling
- who you were with
- what went wrong
- how you resolved the problem
- whether you learned something
- what advice you would give to others in order to avoid this mistake
Useful terms: all of a sudden / out of nowhere / before I knew it / in the blink of an eye / slow-motion / right when I was least expecting (sth) / out of the blue / out of thin air / murphy's law / in no time at all / without warning / to be caught off guard / bolt from the blue

05mins: Speed writing: Use some of the 'useful terms' to write a short, creative story about an unpredictable moment.
**05mins: **Warm down: Set the student chapters of the book to read for homework or assign any additional reading/listening materials such as articles or podcasts.
1) Think about the voice - can you switch between active and passive voice?
2) Look at the words directly before and after the gap. If a past participle follows the gap, you know you'll need the auxiliary verb 'have/had' in your response.
3) Do not use fewer than three or more than eight words.
4) Do not modify the key word in any way.
5) Contractions count as two words.
6) Keep in mind comparative forms, phrasal verbs, colloquial phrases and inverted structures.
