This worksheet can be used to revise some of the main prepositions if they already know them. It is best accompanied by some movement games (e.g. "stand behind your chair" "crawl under the table" etc) or demonstrations with classroom objects (e.g. "the pencil is in the pencil case", "put the scissors between the books" etc).
Encourage the students to use the complete sentence when identifying the position of the ball.
To complete the worksheet, have them first fill in the crossword, choosing each word by the number of letters. Then they should label each picture with the number that matches the crossword position.
10mins - Introduction: What did you do last weekend? Do you often do the same activities on the weekends? Do you prefer to see your friends or spend time with your family? (Practice the verb in the simple past.)
05mins - Review homework. Discuss any questions or problems.
10mins - Activity: Excuses (present continuous review) Split the class into two teams. One team asks a question using "Why can't you (infinitive)." The other team must respond with an excuse. "I can't (infinitive) because I'm (present continuous). Continue alternating between teams until there is a repeat. The team who repeats is eliminated, and the remaining team is the winner!
E.g. 'Why can't you do your homework?'
'I can't do my homework because I'm watching T.V.'
