These animal words will probably be new to the students, so start by identifying each one and drawing the ones that aren't illustrated. The students can colour in the pictures while repeating the new vocabulary.
Ask the students to choose one of the preposition words to complete each sentence. Use gestures to emphasise the positions of the animals relative to the object in each sentence.
10mins - Introduction: What is one thing you can see on the desk? Who is sitting next to you? What am I holding in my hand? Where is your school bag? Ask general questions about things visible in the classroom utilising: who, what and where. Focus on verbs such as: holding, sitting, standing and pointing.
10mins - Pre-teach: Introduce prepositions with preposition flash cards. 'In, on, under, in front of, behind.' Sing a song utilising these prepositions for reinforcement.
10mins - Review: Play a game using preposition flashcards and coloured pens. One at a time, instruct students to take a coloured pen. Then, have them choose a preposition flash card. The student must demonstrate what's on the flashcard using the pen. Help them form a sentence to describe their action. (E.g. I put the pen on the table.)
