First review the days of the week, which the students will probably have memorised in order. They can read them at the bottom of the worksheet and check the spelling.
Teach the meaning of 'before' and 'after' using examples such as 'before we eat, we wash our hands' or 'after you finish, close the book'.
For each clue of the crossword, ask the question 'what is the day before/after...?'. Have them repeat the answer in a complete sentence to help reinforce the 'before/after' vocabulary. For example 'Wednesday is before Thursday'.
Often students have difficulty pronouncing 'Thursday'. Demonstrate that the tongue comes right to the front of the mouth, between the front teeth. Have fun exaggerating the 'th' sound, to help them get used to it.
05mins - Introduction: What's your name, age, and where are you from? Have you got any brothers or sisters? What's your favourite colour, hobby, food...etc. Have the students write one question and pass it in a circle. Each student must write one question and answer a different one in a complete sentence.
05mins - Review: Days of the week and corresponding terminology: today, tomorrow, yesterday, week, next week, last week, weekend, etc.
10mins - Game: Spelling bee - divide the students into two teams. Each team has one student come forward to spell a word. Each correctly spelt word earns one point.
10mins - Worksheet: 13 days of the week
15mins - Practice Test: 13 listening practice - part 3
10mins - Game: Telephone. Modify this game for 'Days of the Week'. Give the students sentences to repeat such as 'Yesterday I ate an apple' or 'On Monday I go to gymnastics practice.'
