Remind the students of the simple past with some examples using the verbs they already learned, such as 'ate' 'went' and 'played'.
Help them to convert each of the given verbs into the past tense and write them carefully into the crossword. As they work, give plenty of examples using each verb and encourage the students to try and form example sentences too.
Most of these verbs are irregular but they are very common and useful verbs for young students to learn.
Have the students write 3 of their example sentences down in the space provided, then read them out loud to the class.
