First look at the picture and encourage the students to point and name and/or describe as many of the things in the picture as they can. Check that they know 'girl' and 'boy'.
Review the use of the 'ing' ending for present continuous verbs by repeating several examples about what the people in the picture are doing.
Have the students read the questions and underline the key question words in each question. Help them to understand the questions and ask them to respond. Point to the part of the picture in question and discuss the options for responses.
Check their spelling of the words they've written. Go over any of the vocabulary that wasn't familiar and make a note to repeat it in future lessons.

10mins - Activity: Show the students the #1 Starters help card. Students should write sentences describing what they see in the picture. Ex: The girl with the pink shirt is in the boat. The duck is in the water, etc. Focus on having students use the present continuous, prepositions and adjectives to describe what they see.
10mins - Game: Write scrambled words on the whiteboard: phaeeltn, osuem, disper, rlteut, sihf, rheos - (mention that they are animals). Ask the students to unscramble them.
