Teacher Guide

Point to each picture and say the word out loud. Use gestures, pictures and facial expressions to repeat the words many times in a fun and entertaining way. Encourage the students to repeat along with you. When you feel they have become familiar with each word and what it means, help them to spell each one. First by orally saying letter by letter (helping them to recofìgnise the pronunciation of the letters) then by writing them out if they need extra help.

Lesson Plan

:

31 Starters Listening Part 1

10mins - Introduction: Have students ask beginner questions to each other. Ex: What's your surname? How do you spell it? Have you got any brothers or sisters? What's your favourite hobby? Award students a point for each question they ask. Then, using a speaking help card, ask the students a series of questions about what they see in the photo.

10mins - Skill practice: Spelling scramble: Ask the students to unscramble each word, saying only that they are family members. Ex: naut, umm, rbhtore, tisser, csuion, ncleu.

15mins - Worksheet: 31 reading practice - part 3 - review the answers.

15mins - Test: 31 listening practice - part 1 - review the answers.

05mins - Review: Verbs in the present continuous form - students act out verbs and must guess what each person is doing.

05mins - Warm down: goodbye see you next time, points
