Help students to answer 'How are you?' and show some possible ways to respond, as included on the sheet. Have them repeat the words, act it out then draw a picture to represent that state / emotion.
10mins: Introduction - Beginner questions: What's your name, age, and where are you from?
10mins: Name game - Students must say the name of all their classmates, using the correct pronoun. (E.g. His name is Federico, her name is Elena... etc.)
10mins: Pre-teach: Emotions - draw pictures on the whiteboard illustrating basic emotion/sensation words: happy, sad, hot, cold, hungry, sick, tired and angry. First see if the kids can guess these words, but if they haven't learned them, help them by spelling/writing the words on the board and asking the students to 'listen and repeat'. Then, encourage the students to act out each of these words.
10mins: Role-play: Students act out the following scene:
S1: 'Hello, how are you?'
S2: 'I'm ______. How are you?'
S1: 'I'm ______. Bye-bye.'
S2: 'Bye-bye.'
Then, have the students repeat: 'S1 is _______. and S2 is ______.'
Continue until all students have had a turn.
