Teacher Guide

Help the students by reading out the words, pointing to them and acting out the emotion. When they choose the right one, have them repeat the word out loud and circle it. Let them colour the faces and talk to them as they colour. They'll have more fun if they act out the emotions too!

Lesson Plan

:

03 - Year 1 Lesson plan

10mins: Introduction - Beginner questions: What's your name, age, and where are you from?

10mins: Name game - Students must say the name of all their classmates, using the correct pronoun. (E.g. His name is Federico, her name is Elena... etc.)

10mins: Pre-teach: Emotions - draw pictures on the whiteboard illustrating basic emotion/sensation words: happy, sad, hot, cold, hungry, sick, tired and angry. First see if the kids can guess these words, but if they haven't learned them, help them by spelling/writing the words on the board and asking the students to 'listen and repeat'. Then, encourage the students to act out each of these words.

10mins: Game: 'Name that Emotion' - Line students up against the wall. Choose one student to go first. They will face the students so they can see what each student is doing. When the teacher says go, each student in the line will act out a different emotion. The student whose turn it is will describe the emotions of their classmates, using complete sentences.

15mins: Worksheet: 03 emotions05mins: Warm Down: Goodbye + points. Pack up supplies, help students prepare to leave and straighten out the classroom.
