Lesson Plan

13 - Year 1 Lesson plan

10mins: Introduction - Beginner questions: What's your name, age, and where are you from? Have you got any brothers or sisters?

10mins: Review emotions - draw different faces on the whiteboard and ask students to say + spell them. Ask each student: How are you? Help them respond in complete sentences. (e.g. I am happy)

10mins: Pre-teach: school supplies - Identify, spell and write on the whiteboard school supplies vocabulary. (book, ruler, rubber, marker, pen, school bag, scissors) For each word, have students repeat the sentence 'This is a __________.'

10mins: Activity: 'How many are there?' The teacher will put a certain number of (books, pens, pencils, rubbers, etc) on a desk, then ask students 'How many _______ are there?' Students will respond 'There are (number) (object)'. Change the object/number each round.

15mins: Worksheet: 13 school objects

05mins: Warm Down: Goodbye + points. Pack up supplies, help students prepare to leave and straighten out the classroom.
