Use this page to review previous topics: introduction questions, numbers, colours, emotions, animals, school objects and action words. It's a good chance to do an art and craft activity, or draw a picture together then label the page with the key vocabulary already covered.
10mins: Introduction - Beginner questions: What's your name, age, and where are you from? Have you got any brothers or sisters? Can you ride a bike? Can you swim? Ask the student some questions using 'can'. Encourage them to respond in complete sentences. (E.g. Yes, I can swim.)
05mins: Review: 'How many are there?' The teacher will put a certain number of (books, pens, pencils, rubbers, etc) on a desk, then ask students 'How many _______ are there?' Students will respond 'There are (number) (object)'. Change the object/number each round.
05mins: Review - simple present. 'Listen and repeat' have students listen, repeat and act out verbs that the teacher introduces. Use 'swim, drink, write, read and sleep'.
10mins: Review - 'can' - brainstorm a list of animals with the class. Then, ask students questions about whether those animals can or can't do certain things. E.g. Can a fish walk? Can a bird swim? etc. Then, ask each student 'What can you do?'
10mins: Activity: Play 'Mother can I' - Stand students in a line. Designate a space across from them as a line they are meant to eventually reach. They must ask the teacher 'Mother can I...' and one verb. The teacher can say yes or no. If the teacher says yes, the student does the verb and moves one step forward. The first student to arrive to the line is the winner. (Note: The teacher can decide why they say yes or no. It can be as simple as weather the student says the sentence with no errors.)
25mins: Worksheet: Review time - Please plan a craft or creative activity to reinforce 'verbs'. Please remember to sign out any materials you use from the C.E. library.
05mins: Warm Down: Goodbye + points. Pack up supplies, help students prepare to leave and straighten out the classroom.
