Teacher Guide

Students should decorate the figure to draw themselves and colour it in. Then they need to use the words in the box to label the body parts. They can add other words if they know more. While they colour the picture review and repeat body parts vocabulary and colours. For advanced students, introduce plural words, for example 'two hands, two eyes 'etc.

Lesson Plan

:

26 - Year 1 Lesson plan

10mins: Introduction - Beginner questions: What's your name, age, and where are you from? Have you got any brothers or sisters? Can you ride a bike? Can you swim? Ask the student some questions using 'can'. Encourage them to respond in complete sentences. (E.g. Yes, I can swim.)

10mins: Review: I like - Play telephone: Split the students into two teams. The teams will sit on the floor in a circle. Say a sentence to the first student by whispering it in their ear. They must then whisper it to the next student. The message will go around the circle until it arrives at the last person. This person must stand up and say the sentence. If they are correct, the team earns one point. Focus on using 'I like/don't like' + actions.

10mins: Review: Body parts - Quickly review all the body parts. Point to different body parts and have students say what they are. Then, play the 'if you like' game using body parts + I like/ I don't like. E.g. - If you like pizza, touch your nose. If you don't like fish, touch your ears.

15mins: Worksheet: 26 body parts

10mins: How many are there? Ask the students questions about how many body parts are in the class. E.g. 'How many heads are there?' 'How many toes are there?' Students must respond in complete sentences to earn points.

05mins: Warm Down: Goodbye + points. Pack up supplies, help students prepare to leave and straighten out the classroom.
