Teacher Guide

Help the students choose an action word to complete the table with a verb for each day of the week. They should then draw a picture of that activity. While they are drawing talk to them and have them repeat the complete sentence in the form 'On Monday I swim'.

Lesson Plan

:

10 - Year 2 Lesson plan

10mins - Introduction: Beginner questions: What's your name, how old are you, where are you from?

Choose a student to stand up, and ask the other students: What's his/her name? Where is he/she from? Where is he/she from? Repeat this process until every student has had a turn.

15mins - Review: Days of the week - review the 'days of the week song'.

Review: Today, yesterday and tomorrow. Write on the whiteboard: 'Today is ______.' See if students can answer correctly. Write a second sentence saying 'Yesterday was _______.' Write the third sentence on the board 'Tomorrow is ______.' Ask students questions using 'before' and 'after'. (E.g. what day is after Thursday?) Encourage them to use the 'days of the week' song if they get stuck.

15mins - Worksheet: 11 what do you do on...? - students write and draw what they do on each day.

15mins - Activity: Gather the students in a circle. Ask the first student, what do you do on (a day). The student must respond to the question and act out the verb, then ask another student what they do on a different day.

05mins - Warm down: Goodbye, see you next time + points.
