Teacher Guide

The students need to identify two family words for each person and then fill them into the crossword, paying attention to the spelling. They can refer to the previous worksheet for the family words to use. While they are colouring the pictures talk to them (review and repeat).

Lesson Plan

:

17 - Year 2 Lesson plan

10mins - Introduction: Beginner questions: What's your name, how old are you, where are you from?

Choose a student to stand up, and ask the other students: What's his/her name? Where is he/she from? Where is he/she from? Repeat this process until every student has had a turn.

10mins - Review: 'Put the ball' - Give students instructions using prepositions and the verb 'put'.

10mins - Review: family words - review the 'family portraits' from last week. Have each student introduce their family by referring to the picture they drew. After each student presents, ask follow up questions to the other students, encouraging them to correctly use 'he'/'she' pronouns + has got.

15mins: Worksheet: page 18 - family words

10mins: Role play - Assign a 'family role' to each student in the class. Then, have each student identify what family member they are, and encourage them to act out something that family member might do.

05mins: Warm Down: Goodbye + points. Pack up supplies, help students prepare to leave and straighten out the classroom.
