Teacher Guide

Use this page to review previous topics: introduction questions, colours, have got, body parts, action words, days of the week, prepositions and family words. It's a good chance to do an art and craft activity, or draw a picture together then label the page with the key vocabulary already covered.

Lesson Plan

:

23 - Year 2 Lesson plan

10mins: Introduction: Beginner questions: What's your name, how old are you, where are you from? Have you got any brothers or sisters?

Choose a student to stand up, and ask the other students: What's his/her name? Where is he/she from? Where is he/she from? Repeat this process until every student has had a turn.

10mins: Review: family words - Ask students to describe their family. Write family words on the whiteboard. Ask students questions about their families. Focus on use of 'have you got...?'

10mins: Pre-teach: House words - draw some furniture on the white board. Ask students what you've drawn. Then, label each word and have students repeat the terms using the sentence - 'It's a _________'. (Door, window, sofa, bed, car, bathtub, shower, table, chair)

10mins: Worksheet: 23 house words

15mins: 'My bedroom' - Have students draw a picture of their bedroom and label the furniture.

Extension: Have students write sentences using 'have got' to describe what's in their bedrooms.

05mins: Warm Down: Goodbye + points. Pack up supplies, help students prepare to leave and straighten out the classroom.
