Teacher Guide

It's time to revisit adjectives and extend the students' vocabulary. Help them to connect a suitable adjective from the word bank for each animal, in order to complete the crossword. While they colour the pictures, talk to them - review and repeat. Have them spell the words out loud and check their pronunciation of the letters.

Lesson Plan

:

12 - Year 3 Lesson plan

10mins: Introduction - Beginner questions: What's your name, age, and where are you from? Have you got any brothers or sisters? Ask questions to each student in a circle. When a student has answered the question, they must ask the next person in the circle the same question.

Choose a student to stand up, and ask the other students: What's his/her name? Where is he/she from? Where is he/she from? Repeat this process until every student has had a turn.

10mins: Review: 'Days of the week' - Ask each student what their favourite day of the week is, and what they do on that day.

10mins: Review: Animal words and adjectives - Guess the animal! The teacher will use adjectives to describe animals, students try to guess what animal it is, and then spell it correctly.

15mins: Worksheet: 12 animals and adjectives

10min: Activity: 'My favourite animal' Students draw a picture of their favourite animal. They must write one sentence using two adjectives to describe their animal, and another sentence saying one verb their animal can do, and one verb their animal can't do.
