10mins: Pre-teach: Vowels - A, E, I, O, U. Brainstorm lists of nouns for each word. Explain that for nouns that begin with a vowel, we use the article 'an'.
10mins: Pre-teach: 'Have got' - give each student a different colour pen. Write the sentence structure on the white board. 'I have got a/an _________ pen.' Say what colour pen you've got, and then go in a circle, having each student say what colour pen they've got.
10mins: Musical pens - Be sure that each student has a different coloured pen. Then, with the students sitting in a circle, ask them to close their eyes and pass the pens around the circle as a song plays. When the song stops, students must put their pen behind their back so no one else can see. Then, go in a circle, having students ask each other 'Have you got a ________ pen.' If a student guesses correctly, they get to keep the pen and the other student is eliminated.
