Review prepositions of placement using the words in the word bank as a reference. The students need to write sentences using the provided words. They can write in any tense they are comfortable with. Do the first one together as an example.
10mins: Introduction - Beginner questions 'What's your name, how old are you, where are you from, have you got any brothers or sisters? What's your favourite day of the week? What do you usually do on this day? What's one thing you like? One think you don't like?
10mins: Review: 'Was/were' Play: 'You were there!' Line students up against a wall. Choose one student to go first. They will face the students and look at each students' position in the line. Then, they will close their eyes, and the other students will change position. When the student opens their eyes, they must say where each student was before. Try one round using 'you were there' and a second round using 'he/she was there.
10mins: Review: Prepositions of time - Play 'Time showdown' - split the students into two teams. One student from each team will come to the front of the classroom at a time. The teacher will give a sentence with a missing preposition (e.g. I went to England ____ 2010.) The student who writes the correct answer first will earn a point for their team.
10mins: Pre-teach: Prepositions of placement - in, on, under, in front of, behind, between. Use a ball to demonstrate these prepositions, then ask each student to demonstrate a preposition.
15mins: Worksheet: page 13 - prepositions of placement
05mins: Warm Down: Goodbye + points. Pack up supplies, help students prepare to leave and straighten out the classroom.
