The students need to fill the bingo grid with one family word in each square. They can choose any family word in any position they like. While they're writing, cut out pieces of paper or card with the family words written on them. Mix them up. The students then take turns to draw one word from the mix and read it out loud. Anyone who has that word written on their bingo card can cross it. The first to cross all the words (or a row if you prefer) wins! Encourage the students to use the phrase 'I have got that word', and ask them 'Have you got it?' while playing.
10mins: Introduction - Beginner questions 'What's your name, how old are you, where are you from, have you got any brothers or sisters? What's your favourite day of the week? What do you usually do on this day? What's one thing you like? One thing you don't like?
10mins: Review: Superlatives - Have students stand in a circle. Use two different coloured bean bags. Indicate that one colour means the 'comparative' and the other colour means the 'superlative'. Say an adjective, and toss the bean bags to two different students. They must say either the comparative or superlative of the adjective you've said, depending on the colour of the bean bag. If a student is incorrect, they are eliminated.
10mins: Review: Family words - students must ask a classmate one question about their family using superlatives. (e.g. who is the tallest in your family? Who is the best at sports in your family?)
10mins: Worksheet: page 31 - family bingo
15mins: True or False - Students write six sentences about their family. Three are true and three are false. Then, they read them to their classmates. Students have to guess which sentences are true and which are false. Ideas can include what your mum/dad do for work, what hobbies/sports your family members do or physical descriptions, such as hair and eye colour.
05mins: Warm Down: Goodbye + points. Pack up supplies, help students prepare to leave and straighten out the classroom.
Check the spelling.
