Explain that each sentence will have a verb followed by a gap where a preposition of movement or placement goes. You may like to go through together and underline the main verbs in each sentence. Have the students decide if it's a verb describing a movement such as "goes", "take" or "run", or if it's describing a state such as "is" or "was". The latter case suggests a preposition of placement is needed.
Have the students complete the worksheet with a preposition they choose for each gap. Discuss any difficult ones together and then check that they've correctly identified which type of preposition each is (movement or placement).
