Interactive preparation course for the B1 PET level of the Cambridge English exams.
The Cambridge English PET exam is an intermediate listening and speaking assessment test for ESL learners. The qualification shows that a student has mastered the basics of English and now has practical language skills for everyday use.
The course is organised into modules that mimic the different parts of the Cambridge English PET exam to enable students to become familiar with the format and question styles. Each part contains useful advice and strategies as well as relevant grammar points and resources to use to get more practice. Some parts also contain tutorial videos with specific tips for that exam part.
This homework course introduces students to the format and requirements of the B1 PET exam. They will have the opportunity to practice past exam questions and receive feedback on their performance.
When a student finishes the Cambridge PET level, they will have achieved a basic level of English in the four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The qualification shows that a student has mastered the basics of English and now has practical language skills for everyday use. It shows the student is able to:

The reading component of the course focuses on developing students' ability to read and understand various types of texts, including articles, advertisements, and short stories. This involves improving vocabulary, developing reading strategies, and practicing reading comprehension exercises.
The course covers the 6 parts of the Reading part of the B1 PET exam. Each part is explained and there are multiple interactive homework modules to complete to practice the following skills:
Part 1: Read five real-world notices, messages and other short texts for the main message.
Part 2: Match five descriptions of people to eight short texts on a particular topic, showing detailed comprehension.
Part 3: Read a longer text for detailed comprehension, gist, inference and global meaning, as well as writer’s attitude and opinion.
Part 4: Read a longer text from which five sentences have been removed. Show understanding of how a coherent and well-structured text is formed.
Part 5: Read a shorter text and choose the correct vocabulary items to complete gaps.
Part 6: Read a shorter text and complete six gaps using one word for each gap.
The listening component of the course focuses on developing students' ability to listen and understand spoken English. Students will practice listening to different types of recordings, such as news broadcasts, conversations, and interviews. They will also learn how to take notes and identify key information.
The course covers the 4 parts of the Listening part of the B1 PET exam. Each part is explained and there are multiple interactive homework modules to complete to practice the following skills:
Part 1: Identify key information in seven short monologues or dialogues and choose the correct visual.
Part 2: Listen to six short dialogues and understand the gist of each.
Part 3: Listen to a monologue and complete six gaps.
Part 4: Listen to an interview for a detailed understanding of meaning and to identify attitudes and opinions.
The writing component of the course focuses on developing students' ability to write different types of texts, such as emails, letters, and short essays. Students will learn how to structure their writing, develop ideas, and use appropriate grammar and vocabulary.
The course covers the 2 parts of the Writing part of the B1 PET exam. Each part is explained and there are multiple interactive homework modules to complete to practice the following skills:
Part 1: Write about 100 words, answering the email and notes provided.
Part 2: Write about 100 words, answering the question of their choosing (choice between an article or a story).
The speaking component of the course focuses on giving students advice and guidelines to improve their ability to speak confidently and fluently in English. Students will be instructed to practice speaking in different contexts, such as giving presentations, participating in discussions, and expressing opinions.
The course covers the 4 parts of the Speaking part of the B1 PET exam. Each part is explained and there are multiple interactive homework modules to complete to practice the following skills:
Part 1: Respond to questions, giving factual or personal information.
Part 2: Describe one colour photograph, talking for about 1 minute.
Part 3: Make and respond to suggestions, discuss alternatives and negotiate agreement.
Part 4: Discuss likes, dislikes, experiences, opinions, habits, etc.
