Course Description

This is a mini course themed on the comparative structure. It gives students and overview of how to form comparatives and outlines the different spelling rules depending on the adjective form. It also tests students on recognising when and how to use comparatives in a variety of sentences.

Course Format

The course is divided into three different difficulty levels to allow students to work at the level appropriate to their language knowledge:

  • A1 and A2 Level: rule explanation and examples, and quizzes to practice forming and using the comparative in simple sentences.
  • B1 and B2 Level: quizzes to practice forming and using the comparative in intermediate level sentences.
  • C1 and C2: quizzes to practice forming and using the comparative in advanced level sentences.
What will you learn?

Students will learn how comparatives are used in English and the rules regarding the spelling of the comparative form of different adjectives. They will learn to recognise when it is appropriate to use the comparative form (as opposed to the adjective or superlative) and become familiar with some of the common irregular forms.
