Course Description

This is a course all about the present perfect tense. It provides students with an overview of why and when we use the present perfect tense, and how we form it. It gives plenty of examples and also covers choosing between the simple past and the present perfect tense.

Course Format

The course is segmented into four lessons with clear explanations, examples and quiz questions:

  • Introduction (B1 and B2 Levels): In which situations do we use the present perfect tense and what information does it give us?
  • Forming the Present Perfect Tense (B1 and B2 levels): What is the structure of this tense?
  • Using the Present Perfect Tense (B2 and C1 levels): When do we use this tense and when do we use the simple past instead?
  • Present Perfect in Reported Speech (C1 and B2 levels): Why is the present perfect tense often used in reported speech?
What will you learn?

Students will learn how the present perfect tense is used in English and in which different scenarios it is appropriate. They will learn to correctly form this tense and practice using it. They'll also learn some common time indicators used with the present perfect tense and learn not to use this tense with specific time expressions.
