This is a mini course focused on phrasal verbs. It provides students an overview of phrasal verbs in English, teaching how to recognise, understand, and use them effectively. The course demystifies the structure and meaning of phrasal verbs and presents the various types that exist. It also tests students on their ability to identify and use phrasal verbs in a variety of sentences.
Course Format
The course is organised into three different difficulty levels to allow students to engage with material that matches their language proficiency:
Students will learn how phrasal verbs function in English and the nuances in their meanings and usage. They will become adept at recognizing when it is appropriate to use a phrasal verb (as opposed to a single-word verb) and become familiar with some of the common irregular phrasal verbs that don't follow typical patterns. Through various examples and exercises, students will understand how prepositions or adverbs can change the meaning of the base verb, and they will practice choosing the correct phrasal verb to convey the intended meaning in different contexts.
